A threat has surfaced from the depths of the ocean, the magnitude of which can be estimated only over time: various individuals have become hosts to horrific seed that is now ripening and soon to be harvested. At a variety of locations - a mansion in England, the pyramids in Egypt, a mental asylum in the Alps, in the frozen desert of Antarctica, Arkham and the surrounding area in New England and finally Easter Island - the investigators experience puzzling, action-oriented or interactive adventures with which they are introduced into the secrets of the Cthulhu Mythos.
