Publisher Blurb:
Welcome to the Divination RPG Preview Part Two: Running
Divination!
First and foremost, thank you so much for supporting us and our
continued development of the game by purchasing this Preview.
Before you dive in, we want to share a little of what to expect and
how this Diviner’s guide will differ from Part One in both tone and
approach.
We’ve expounded on mechanics and philosophies introduced in Part
One in order to help you more confidently run games; but our caveat
is that from the Diviner’s standpoint, there is much more work still
being done on our end. This is where our mantra “this is still a Preview”
will reveal itself most true.
The writing here is considerably less polished. Sections don’t transition
as seamlessly, and the author voice shifts between second person and
third. The writing style and tone hasn’t been made consistent – it’ll
probably be a lot more obvious that this work contains the writing of
two different people.
All of this is because it was more important for us to get the information
into the hands of potential Diviners quickly, rather than perfectly, so
that you can begin enjoying the game and we can cast a wider net for
playtesting.
We need the feedback that can only come from folks who are not us
trying their hand at running the game, and we wanted to equip you to
do that. Investing the same amount of time into editing and polishing
this guide as we did on Part One would have pushed this back many
more weeks, and wouldn’t have made much sense anyway given that
much of what’s here will likely change.
It may feel a little odd that we’ve used our same polished layout
template for this largely unpolished work, but we do still think of this
as Part Two of a single Preview. And, you know… we had the template
already designed.
If you’re looking to run the game in its current state for your gaming
group, great! We’ve done our best to equip you to do that today, and
feel confident this guide provides all you need (as it exists today).
If you enjoy digging into the areas that are still being worked, we’d love
to have you in our Discord community to chat about your thoughts
and experiences!
Either way, we’re grateful you’re here, and we’re happy to answer any
questions you have - feel free to shoot us a message at any time.

Who this guide is for
In writing the Diviner’s guide for our Divination RPG Preview, we
know there are several audiences to whom we’re likely speaking:
• Gamers and GMs who are familiar with RPGs but have little
knowledge of Tarot
• Tarot practitioners who have little or no experience gaming
• Those who are well versed in both RPGs and Tarot
• Those who are newer to both
No matter which bucket you fall into, we encourage you to give equal
attention to all parts of this guide. The gaming experience of Divination
has been shaped by Tarot, and the Tarot experience is viewed and
presented through a lens of tabletop roleplaying, so there will be
discoveries and guidance for all, throughout.
