Description
Vol. XI No. 9 of Dragon Magazine.
Cover Art: The final piece in a series of fantastic chess paintings makes its appearance on the cover of this issue. Denis Beauvais's The Draw is actually a self-portrait; Denis is wearing one of his (quite real) fantasy costumes in the role of the Black King. The intense rivalry that one feels between the Black King and the onrushing viewer perfectly symbolize the theme of this issue: the competition within games themselves. (from the contents page)
This issue featured COMPETITION & TOURNAMENTS: Games within games - five articles on tournaments in AD&D.
It also listed the "Gamers' Guide," which was an index of all the advertising in the issue and "TSR Previews," a list of upcoming products from TSR.
