Akcja Drogi ku chwale ma miejsce w niezwykłej, magicznej krainie, zwanej przez jej mieszkańców Państwem Środka - Zhongguo. Jest to potężne cesarstwo, założone kilkaset lat temu przez mitycznego władcę, rzekomo potomka bogów. Zhongguo stało się największą potęgą militarną, gospodarczą i ekonomiczną, jaka istnieje w tej części świata. Stolicą cesarstwa jest Wuhan - olbrzymia metropolia, zwana Miastem Tysiąca Snów. W jego centrum znajduje się wielki pałac, z którego surową ręką włada swoimi poddanymi Cesarz, Syn Światła.
Daleko na północ od Wuhan leży Tsiengtao, siedziba niewielkiego rodu Hunyuian. Miasto to do niedawna było jednym z wielu prowincjonalnych osiedli, sytuacja zmieniła się jednak kilkadziesiąt lat temu, wkrótce po zakończeniu wojny domowej, jaka trawiła Zhongguo. Przybyli do niego mistrzowie najsłynniejszych stylów walki i zbudowali tu swoje szkoły. Od tamtej pory Tsiengtao zwane jest Miastem Tysiąca Wojowników.
Właśnie w Tsiengtao ma miejsce akcja gry. Jest to niezwykle rozbudowany ośrodek miejski, pełen wspaniałych budynków, takich jak Browar Tsiengtao, pierwszy w całym cesarstwie, poprzez Ogrody Dzikiej Róży, na Jamie Smoka kończąc. W Tsiengtao lub jego okolicy znajduje się największa liczba szkół walki w całym cesarstwie, jest ich dwadzieścia trzy. W Państwie Środka znajduje się ich dwieście, a zatem w Tsiengtao mieści się ponad jedna dziesiąta z nich. To dlatego miasto zwane jest Miastem Tysiąca Wojowników.
