Droplets: Dry Erase Word Game

Game ID: GID0104597
Collection Status
Description

Droplets is a light, yet strategic word game all about dropping and collecting letters to form words.

GOAL:
Make and score the most valuable words.

SETUP:

Give each player a dry erase form and marker or pre-printed game sheet.
One player calls out two “seed” words from the back of the dry erase form.
Players simultaneously drop letters from each seed word into each of the seven rows, two letters per row, one from each word. See examples below for clarity.

GAME PLAY:
Players have five minutes to simultaneously form words horizontally in each row by adding one or more additional letters from their stockpiles. As you add a letter, mark it off from the stockpile. You cannot reuse letters. Words must be at least three letters long.

SCORING:
At the end of five minutes, assemble your letters into words, unscramble as needed. Score each completed word, then add up the total for your final score. The player with the highest score wins. If there is a tie, the player with the alphabetically-highest word wins.

EXAMPLE:
(See images for example).
Wendy calls out COUNTRY and OUTCOME as the seeds.

The letters from both words are written down vertically in order.
Letters are added from the stockpile and marked off
The letters in row 6 are unscrambled.

as used.

Words are scored to get the final score.

STRATEGIES:

Before dropping the initial letters from each seed word, think about what new words you might wish to form for maximum points.
Try to use the top value letters.
Call out your own, more complicated seven-letter words.
