From Introduction:
Beneath the Clawcrest Mountains, the dark elves turn to the dark arts and the goblins are always up to some sort of mischief. The dwarves who dig their mines under these peaks are never truly safe from monsters such as these, or even more dangerous things that lurk within these lightless caverns. But they can no longer depend upon their high elf neighbours to help them in their fight against their subterranean enemies. The long-eared ones have turned inwards, consumed by guilt perhaps that their own kind could be so far gone to corruption. Instead, the dwarves must turn to their own champions to protect themselves. And they must turn, as well, to the magic of the ancients.
The elves think they are the only ones who have preserved the knowledge of the pre-historic god-kings of wizardry. But the dwarves have libraries of their own, and their smiths have the kills to employ the techniques of old. There are even remnants of that ancient past still active among the dwarves, that serve as examples for them to study. They keep these magic items, which have yet to fail in their functions, hidden from the prying eyes of outsiders. Glimgarim’s tools were never meant to be a secret, however, for he is their champion, the defender of the dwarven people, their mines, and their culture. These items are made by their own design, and thus they are proud to see such work displayed to the world.
