Description
Egara Guti is an outstanding example of the genre known as Hunt Games, War Games, or Kono Games. Some game historians categorize it as an Alquerque game. The game hails from the Central Provinces area of India, birthplace of many traditional games.
The board is a familiar matrix of lines and points, the opposing triangular shapes enhanced by a pair of "shortcuts" on either side. Each of the two players has a set of 11 pieces of equal movement and power. Captures are made by the short leap, and these mandatory (including chain jumps). The objective is to eliminate all of your opponent's pieces or trap them so they cannot move.
