From the introduction:
Over a millennium ago, the Invoked Devastation overthrown the Baklunish Empire. Gathered around the only intact site, the Stone Circles of Tovag Baragu, the survivors were dying. Al’Akbar entered the Inner Circle and prayed the gods. He was heard and celestial messengers brought the Cup and the Talisman to the prophet who could, thanks to their abilities, help his people. Running away from those inhospitable lands, he headed the refugees toward the North. Reaching the shores of the Dramidj ocean, he built the city of Ekbir. After his death, a mausoleum was dedicated to him and the town of Ekbir became a Holy City and object of pilgrimage. The successors of Al'Akbar to the head of the country were called caliphs. Thus was born the Caliphate of Ekbir.
