From the Module description:

It is the eve of All-Fiends, and a series of grisly murders looks to have been solved by the Council of Archimage in the Great Magic School of Specularum. A problem has crept into the calculation, and the only ones to continue on with the investigation are the familiars of the great Mages. These small animals are trapped in a High, forgotten Tower and must save themselves before they embark on a journey to save their
Masters.

To do this they must enter another Dimensional Realm and petition to be placed near enough to their Masters to be able to
assist against an ancient and terrible evil.
