Et in Arcadia Ego concerns the dreams, fears, and nightmares of a gay scholar dying of AIDS in the early 1990s, at the height of the AIDS epidemic.
The player characters are among the scholar's few friends and associates that remain in contact with him. He has invited them to visit him at Arcadie,for a final visit. But before he dies, he intends to bring his friends briefly into his dreams, so that together they might relive pleasant moments from their past. Of course, the pleasant remembrances bleed into increasingly dangerous nightmares as he nears death.
