From the introduction:

This short novel tie-in adventure is a one-act cinematic scenario for the ALIEN Roleplaying Game, and can be played in less than two hours. It is designed to provide a brief taste of ALIEN cinematic gameplay. In this scenario, the players take the roles of a secondary team of marines attached to an elite multi-national military unit called the Jackals. This mission takes place during the novel itself. The marine unit dubbed the Jackals have been sent to evacuate colonies under siege by a biological weapon.
