I​t’s lonely out on the range. Open plains, quiet forests, dry deserts - a cowpoke could go days at a time without seeing nary a soul. And the critters, well, they’d sooner flee than face you. Don’t believe everything those dime novels back east tell you, most animals are plum scared of folks.

B​ut the west can be a very harsh place, on man and beast alike. Makes them desperate - crazed, even. Ain’t uncommon to hear tell of some poor sap finding themselves cornered by a hungry cougar, or a stagecoach held up by a band of bloodthirsty outlaws. No, nothing is utterly harmless out in these parts.
