Description

FLIP is a simple checker-like game for two players. The game includes a game board like a checker board with a red borderline around one-half and a blue borderline around the other half. There are 24 special chips resembling poker chips that are red on one side and blue on the other. Each player places 12 chips in two rows of six on the first and second row of his side of the board leaving a vacant square to the left and to the right. The player on the red side places chips red side up. The player on the blue side places chips blue side up.

The players' objective is to move their chips across the board to occupy the same positions as the opponent's starting chips. Each turn a player may move one chip one space to an empty square in any direction. A player may also jump an opponent's chip that is adjacent provided there is an empty square behind the chip. Similar to a king in checkers, multiple jumps may be made in a single turn in any direction including diagonally. A player may never jump his own chip. Whenever a diagonal jump is made, the player flips the opponent's chip over to his color and this becomes his chip. Reducing the opponent's number of chips to less than 12 prevents the opponent from winning until he acquires 12 chips again.
