Description

From publisher blurb:

“What is that up in the sky? It is some sort of circular unidentified flying object! ”—Excited Reporter just before his on-air vaporization

Flying Saucer is a single level interior map of a circular unidentified flying object (UFO). The UFO is entered and exited via a beam up/down circle in the center of the ship or a deployable entrance/exit ramp in the north. With sixteen cryo chambers for deep sleep between invasions, this saucer can have a crew of up to sixteen aliens or eight aliens with the other eight chambers intended for the transport of abducted humans or other biological life.

Flying Saucer is intended for use in early to middle 1900’s pulp, modern, post-apocalyptic (alien caused), and near or far-future science fiction games.

Adventure hook for use with this map:

The Crashed Saucer: The UFOs invaded Earth and started a planet-wide attack upon every major city using disintegration rays to vaporize buildings and anyone foolish enough to oppose them from police squad cars to tanks to fighter jets.

One of their UFOs crashed after a strike on Las Vegas casinos and landed in the desert. The United States Army has flown in the group via helicopter to investigate the crash site and infiltrate the downed saucer. Each soldier has been equipped with their choice of a sniper rifle, assault rifle, machine gun, or submachine gun with a backup pistol and knife. They also have stun batons and Tasers to test if these stun weapons can knock out the aliens. An engineer has welding equipment to break into the ship if necessary. A medic has first aid kits with orders to try and keep the aliens alive if possible. Rocket launchers, grenades, demolitions, and explosives have not been authorized for this mission as command fears the potential collateral damage to the saucer’s interior. Orders are to leave these on the helicopter. Mission objectives include incapacitation of an alien for interrogation to learn about the enemy’s psychology and plans or at least the collection of a dead alien corpse for dissection to learn more about the enemy’s biology.

When the saucer is cleared on the inside of all hostiles who could get the ship airborne again, the secondary transport team moves in with vehicles to tow the saucer and to move the captured or dead aliens to a nearby hidden underground US Army base. The group is to evacuate to their helicopter and defend the transport and tow trucks as they return to base with air cover provided by a jet fighter squadron.
