Long ago, before the Elves destroyed themselves in their great Witchking Wars, all manner of dwelling and stronghold could be found throughout the lands surrounding the City of Skull. Artificers of magical craft built their fortresses on or near powerful concentrations of energy such as thermal vents, ley lines, and the thin points in the veil between their world and the Infinite Horizon. One such stronghold has managed to resist the grind of centuries and still contains a glimmer of that long ago time. It is now home to a nest of vicious giant insects, a number of elemental guardians tending their grove, and a ley line leech corrupted by gluttony.
The existence of the hold is revealed when bold explorers in the Salt Waste bring a tale back to the City of Skull telling of strange lights in the twilight throwing patterns on the sky. A seer proclaims visions of a strange forest in the ground filled with wonder and riches. And now the Guild of Black & Gold wants to know more. The party is offered a contract to seek out this lost place and discover what treasures it still holds.
