In addition to teaching about the history of the frontier in British North America during the colonial era, Forest Diplomacy is a game of cultural misunderstanding and miscommunication. Immersing players in the protocols of eastern woodlands diplomacy, dramatizes the wide cultural gulf that separated most European settlers and native peoples, but the game also shows the potential for bridging that gulf through capable “go-betweens” and the serious protocols of the treaty councils.
