From inside of book

The Coven at 188th street was more than just a group of witches. It was a community center for everyone in the neighborhood. Folks loved the community garden, and there was a free supper every Wednesday night that was open to all. And almost everywhere, were the cats.

Cats of all stripes were adopted by the coven, but especially black cats. Black cats are still stigmatized due to superstition and are numerous at shelters, but at the coven they were home.

You, the players, are these black cats. You have a great life here, regardless of the possibly rough road that led you here. But this peace was not to last…

Tonight, the witches were concerned. You could feel it. A tension in the air, almost like an electrical buzz. They kept looking out the windows, and rummaging through drawers as if looking for something.

Suddenly all the lights went out! You cats can see in the dark pretty well, but your human friends were scared. One of them, a witch named Morgan, hurried over to you holding some new collars, which she hastily put on each of you. Each one held a pretty jewel! She then opened a window and ushered you all out into the chilly night air. You could tell she wanted you to run off, which seemed so weird!

Moments later there was a commotion inside, you could hear people yelling at each other, then stuff crashing like they were jumping on the counters! Suddenly, all the windows exploded outward! You hid and shortly afterward some people you had never seen before came out carrying your sleeping witch friends! They put them in a van and drove away.
