From publisher blurb:
You’ve always known the Trinity Pact was corrupt—most people do—but recent events have exposed just how deep the rot goes. The name "Ishken Mataros" has risen to the forefront, whispered among powerful circles as the architect behind a conspiracy that threatens to fracture the galaxy’s most powerful alliance. Mataros, an enigmatic and cunning executive with control over Imperial Holdings, one of the most powerful corporate entities within the Pact, is orchestrating something unthinkable: the secession of ten key planets from Trinity control. His ultimate goal? To carve out his own empire, born from rebellion, chaos, and the destruction of everything the Pact holds sacred. It starts on the outer rim, in the shadowy, lawless planets where discontent with the Pact has been growing for years. These are worlds rich in resources but poor in loyalty. And Mataros knows how to stoke the fires of rebellion. He’s already moving his pieces across the board, from inciting civil unrest to silencing key figures, and the Pact is woefully unaware of the true scale of the threat. His reach is long, his influence vast. And yet, like a spider in the center of its web, Mataros remains hidden, pulling strings from behind the scenes, waiting for the moment to strike. But there are those who oppose him. Forces both within and outside the Pact have begun to take notice, and they aren’t about to let Mataros’s plans go unchallenged. Zarien Nashar, a former military tactician turned rebel leader, has aligned himself with the movement, but not out of loyalty to Mataros. Zarien wants revenge for the betrayal that cost him his command and the lives of those under him. Then there’s Amira Vareth, head of the Pact’s internal security division, who plays both sides with dangerous precision, using the chaos to her advantage. And Khamet Adarus, a mercenary with no allegiance but to credits, is running interference for Mataros—but only as long as the money keeps flowing. Into this volatile mix enters Leira Hazat, a journalist-turned-informant, who has her own personal vendetta against Mataros. Her family was destroyed by one of his ruthless purges, and now she’s working undercover, gathering evidence of his corruption in hopes of exposing the truth to the galaxy. But the clock is ticking. With every passing moment, Mataros inches closer to triggering a galaxy-wide rebellion that could topple the Pact and set the galaxy aflame.
