Furloughed Friends: A Government Shutdown Game

Game ID: GID0136208
Collection Status
Description

The shutdown continues. Federal government agencies are closed over disagreements for funding to build a wall along the southern border of the United States. Tension is mounting in DC and Americans across the country are and struggling from inability to access certain services. See if you can make a deal or build the wall before our elected officials!

Players are divided into Team Democrat and Team Republican. Democrats win by passing appropriation bills to reopen the closed agencies before Republicans secure funding for the wall. Republicans win by securing funding for the wall before Democrats reopen closed agencies. Players reopen agencies/build the wall by advancing spaces along the board which has a map of DC with federal buildings and the southern border of the United States. Individual players can also negotiate to reach a deal.

Either party can win if it receives a 70 percent or higher approval rating based how they play their cards to win the hearts and minds of the American public.
