Description

Galf is a retro throwback golf game that was originally part of the 2017 Nintendo Switch game Golf Story. The game consists of nine holes and controls very similarly to Golf on the NES. The holes feature a variety of typical golf course traps and hazards. The position of your ball, what type of grass you're hitting it out of, and the current wind speed all affect your ball's power and accuracy. As an added bonus for this release, there is now a two-player mode.

Galf was released standalone as a fully functional NES cartridge on September 28, 2018 through Limited Run Games. It was produced in limited quantities of only 1,500 copies. 1,050 of them come on a "Grassy Green" NES cart, and 450 on a "Golf Ball White" NES cart.

To celebrate this release, Limited Run Games had planned to host a contest similar to Nintendo's Famicom Golf Tournament Japan Course competition back in 1987. Owners of the game would need to submit a physical photograph of their lowest 9-hole score in and mail it into LRG. Top scores would be awarded one of 25 gold cartridges with a second tier prize including one of 40 silver cartridges. Unfortunately, LRG scrapped the contest. One gold cart was auctioned off for charity, but there has been no official release of the remaining stock as of 2023.
