This encounter was inspired by the short story “Fish Night” by Joe Lansdale. The story was animated in 2019 for Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots series. I recommend both.
The lowest CR of the easiest encounter, a bone fish, is 2 but this can be modified to increase its difficulty. There is also a CR 7 encounter with a single ghost shark. The CR of this encounter can also be increased.
