Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 2022 action game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S developed by IllFonic. This asymmetrical multiplayer game is set after the events of the film Ghostbusters: Afterlife and focuses on players tackling matches either as a Ghostbuster trying to capture ghosts, or a ghost trying to haunt a location.
On October 19, 2023, a free upgrade to the game called Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed - Ecto Edition was released along with a Nintendo Switch port. This patch included a DLC featuring the iconic villain Samhain from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon whose story content leads directly into the events of the upcoming film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
