Goblinkin

Description

The first goblinkin, or half-goblinoids, were born when goblinoids mated with humanoids. Over the generations goblinkin have become a species unto themselves, able to proliferate by mating with each other. There are goblinkin that are true born, the result of one goblinkin mating with another, and those that are of mixed blood, having one parent of humanoid stock and the other of goblinoid heritage. Either way, be they of mixed heritage or true born, all goblinkin have a mix of goblinoid traits as well as some traits that are wholly unique to them.

Goblinkin vary greatly in appearance from one another. They come in all shapes and sizes, some as diminutive as a goblin, while others are nearly as tall as a bugbear. Although strangely, a goblinkin’s goblinoid heritage is little indicator of its height. All goblinkin share an unusual blend of human and goblinoid features with skin tones a blend of various humanoid tones and gobliny green. One thing of particular note is that all goblinkin have remarkably human looking eyes while retaining the nighttime acuity of a goblinoid. Despite their differences, all goblinkin retain the spark of their fey heritage.

Like many of the other mixed species the goblinkin don’t fit into either world of their heritage. To many goblins they are seen to be lacking the essential fey cunning that makes one a goblin, while to their humanoid relations they have the taint of something dangerous and are often viewed with suspicion. However neither of these stereotypes are accurate to the goblinkins’ true nature. The truth is that they are as varied as any other species, and it is the stigmas and prejudices they face that accounts for their sometimes less than tractable qualities. In the end, there are those goblinkin that are as noble as a great hero and those as devious and cruel as terrible villains.
