Groundbreakers is a classic card game for 2-5 players. Each player takes on the role of a historical Groundbreaker such as Caesar, Socrates or Martin Luther King. Each groundbreaker has its own effect that gives the player bonus effects or makes life more difficult for other players.
Players are each dealt 10 hand cards and the object of the game is to discard them. There are three types of playing cards, each of which has different effects. In addition, there are three ages that are activated during the game, each unlocking new cards.
The first card type is called "Collectible Cards" and basically consists of cards without a special effect, but which can only be placed in certain ages. There are three categories "Medicine", "Mobility" and "Media". If you have all three cards of a category (e.g. Medicine I, II & III) you can discard them at the same time.
In addition, there are effect and reaction cards that allow the players to discard their hand cards faster or to prevent the strategy of the other players.
