From publisher blurb:
The town of Driftwood is known for its swampy waters and thick, marsh-like groves. Locals say that at night, you can see the mangroves swaying in the breeze, even on windless nights.
The leader of Driftwood, Semsy Waverly, has watched over the town for many years, ensuring that their people can survive while also paying respect to the nature they harvest from. One night, they began to have dreams of a large, white mangrove tree. These dreams plagued them night after night, as villagers who ventured into the mangroves did not return.
Semsy requests the aid of brave adventurers to go forth into the grove, and learn what has become of the residents.
Adventure Hooks
Aspiring Xenobiologist: The ecosystem of Driftwood is well-known for its diverse xenobiology. Visiting Driftwood would give any xenobiologist a chance to further their research and collect evidence to support any number of working theories and hypotheses.
Driftwood Native: A member of the party is from, or lives in Driftwood, and knows that Semsy Waverly has been behaving strangely for the past few days. They’ve also heard about neighbors who have gone missing and seen more bones wash up on shore than usual.
Friend to Nature: The mangrove swamp is an essential part of Driftwood’s ecology and how the people manage to make their living. If the delicate balance between their scavenging and the growth of the forest is upset, it will be harder for the people of Driftwood to survive and trade with other towns. If a member of the party is also invested in nature, e.g. a druid, protecting the grove should appeal to them as well.
