Description

From publisher blurb:

Legends persist in the realm about a powerful druid who was corrupted by the allure of immortality. This enigmatic figure sought to trancend the boundaries of death and life. Through dark rituals and forbidden knowledge this ancient druid delved into necromantic arts, sacrificing their humanity to achieve immortality in a twisted, undeathly form.

While most adventurers have heard the legends, no one is known, to have ever encountered this Undead Druid. Long ago a Druid named Groveheart achieved the highest powers of any known Druid in the land. He protected an area which was called the Serenity Grove for nearly eighty years. Groveheart is said to have had several powerful artifacts and magical items at his disposal. There are stories of him using his magical powers to defend the grove from all sorts of horrible creatures and enemies.

After he was gone the grove fell into chaos and became known as the Whispering Shadowswood. The place was considered haunted and travelers took a wide berth to avoid traveling through it. The forest is still considered quite dangerous. The trees there are sickly looking and twisted. None ever seem to have any leaves at all.

Recently, however, a wounded elf wandered into a nearby town with a tale. He died shortly afterwards. He told of a tower rising above the trees of the Whispering Shadowswood in a clearing close to the center of it. The tower was in poor condition and overgrown with vegetation. It did not appear to have been used in quite some time. The elf insisted, however, that the place was haunted. He spoke of ghostly beings and dangerous traps. He also muttered the word Groveheart before he suddenly displayed a pained look on his face and then died.

This tower could be the former home of the ancient druid. Perhaps this ancient druid is the Undead Druid of legend. Perhaps not. In any event the discovery of the tower has the town buzzing. Adventurers are beginning to gather in the town. Some may have already set out to find the tower and whatever mysteries and riches it might have inside.
