From the introduction:

The land of Cymru is living a technological peak: the scientists have learned how to produce lightings and sent them around in cables; and now even the streets and homes are lighted at night. The banks exchange their funds by railroad lines built over forests and bogs; and the bards sing their planxties through a radio at every saloon. Many pioneers headed out to the west to search fortune colonizing the wilds. But at the same time, the lands of your people are surrounded everywhere by monsters, witches, bandits, tyrants and traitors to the living Gods of Cymru. In their name, and in the kingdom's, king Yrtyr has sent you and your party of gunslingers into the world to deliver justice, hope and gunfire.
