Friday night. The year is 1999. Teenagers around the country are gathering around in basements and living rooms, bringing with them their monitors, computers, keyboards and network cables. The party is starting.

But this is no ordinary LAN. These kids aren’t here to snipe each other with the Golden Gun, or blast each other with Siege Tanks. They’re not going to watch Anime or bootleg MP3s. They’re here to prove which team has the best hacking skills. The winner gets bragging rights for a week. The loser gets a blue screen of death. So switch on the power strip. Fire up the router.
