From publisher blurb:
A sunny day at the beach: warm water, endless blue sky, boundless waves. Suddenly, the ocean seems to flee from the land, pulling back farther out than any low tide. Then it appears out on the horizon: a dark line that seems to thicken as it comes closer. Soon it resolves into a horrible wall of water 7 meters high, racing at unfathomable speed toward suddenly-panicked onlookers. But running is useless…by the time they saw it, it was already too late.
A tsunami (from the Japanese meaning “harbor wave”) is a series of giant waves caused by an event that suddenly displaces a large-scale amount of water. Also informally called“tidal waves” (a misleading term, since they have nothing to do with tides), tsunamis can occur in any substantial body of water, including inland seas, large lakes, bays, sounds, and harbors. They differ from normal wind-generated waves in their genesis and structure.
Spawned by anything that displaces a lot of water at once, tsunamis can race across an ocean with incredible speed, leaving little trace of their passing to ship crews. But upon reaching the shore, they become an unstoppable wall of death and destruction. Few land-dwelling creatures can withstand the wrath of the very ocean turned against them.
Hazard: Tsunami! allows the Referee to challenge hir Players with this unstoppable, unpredictable, invulnerable enemy. This short file is packed with a short discussion of how tsunamis form, their characteristics, and game stats.
