Set in a version of Hell overrun with advanced technology, Hellborn is a game of mercenary action, diabolical crime, and second chances. In Hellborn, players take on the mantle of Demons, Fallen Angels, and Sinners that have entered the mercenary world and become fearsome freelancers taking on various contracts and jobs to earn money, fame, and power in this dystopian underworld.
The system of Hellborn is centered around a pair of two six-sided dice. It’s relatively short and simple list of skills and easy to understand way of resolving challenging situations contrasts with it’s strategic combat system, where death is an always-present danger, and you and your crew must work together to plan our your fights.
Hellborn features an expansive perk-based character creation system, being able to create hundreds of unique builds and assemble the perfect arsenal of tricks and supernatural abilities for your character. Players can choose from over a 100 unique perks spread between 11 paths, more than 120 unique demonic powers to choose from, as well as from a vast array of weapons, armor, and cyberware, all of which can be modified and altered to perfection.
On top of that, Hellborn includes a downtime system, where characters can train, rest, work menial jobs to earn extra money, craft simple objects, do some research, and carouse with their companions, which can result in a variety of situations, both good and bad.
Hellborn boasts an expansive lore, spanning almost a hundred pages, and detailing almost everything, from the daily lives and beliefs of Hell’s denizens, to the history of the universe and the bitter history of Heaven and Hell.
