Hockey Heroes is a head-to-head game where each player controls a team competing for the Hockey Heroes League championship title. Each player has a unique deck of 9 skaters and 2 goalies. In this 3-on-3 hockey game, players will try to score more goals than their opponent by the end of the third and final period.
In the game, players use their skaters' skills to gain dice and roll them in an attempt to skate or pass the puck up the ice into the offensive zone to shoot and try to score, earning momentum dice for every successful play. Defending players will use their skaters to body check and stick check their opponents and their goalie to make saves.
Spending players’ energy gains extra dice and players can be changed "on the fly" to keep linemates fresh.
Players can use penalty dice to try to get an edge on their opponent, but risk getting a penalty in the process.
Play continues for 20 minutes (plays) until the period ends. The winner is the team who scores the most goals.
Hockey Heroes contains several dice to chuck, a hockey rink game board, a hockey puck token, and 8 teams - each with completely unique players and abilities to explore.
