User Summary

ICBM is a real-time strategy game centered on the nuclear arms race. Players must manage their resources, research cutting edge technologies, and maintain a stockpile of nuclear weapons in order to strike against their opponents. Taking control of one of the real-world continents, players will prepare themselves and their citizens for nuclear war. The ultimate goal of the game is to annihilate opponents while protecting one's own citizens.

The game presents players with a flexible set of options for how to progress in the game. The various technologies in the game span old and new, and players may choose to focus their efforts on existing technologies in order to increase their arsenal faster, or they can opt for cutting edge technologies that will lead to more powerful weapons. Furthermore, ICBM puts players in control of a variety of aircraft and missile delivery systems, allowing them to choose bombarding opponents from afar with ICMBs or using a fleet of bombers to drop large nuclear payloads on their opponents. The game also boasts 20 unique unit types that players can control along with 12 types of nuclear weapons, and over 40 technologies to research and implement.

In addition to the destruction and mass proliferation of nuclear weapons, ICBM additionally encourages the use of diplomacy in order to gain a strategic advantage. Players can forge alliances in order to share information, gain access to technologies, or share in their nuclear weapons stockpile. These alliances may be temporary or lasting depending on how the player sees fit. Players can cooperatively develop long term strategies and short term tactics in order to win. The game features a "strike planner" that players can use to automate control of units and implement their plans over time. However, ICBM does allow players to micromanage their units and resources to their heart's content.

The game also features an online PvP and cooperative mode for up to 8 players. Matches can be free-for-all or teams of 4v4. There is also a fully cooperative mode where each player works towards a common goal. Expandability and customization are an important element of the game as well. ICBM comes with full mod support out of the box, allowing players to add or change maps, create additional units and technologies, custom graphics, and even implement custom rule sets.
