Alien Beings from Beyond the Stars…

Mind flayers are one of the most recognizable beings from the entire history of D&D, but they have long been relegated to the “always villainous” category. If you wanted to play one, you were out of luck, because they were just too powerful—and just too evil.

But in a multiverse of possibilities, surely some illithids have escaped the elder brain of their colony and discovered new ways to live…? Explored the Underdark on their own or joined the crew of a spelljammer…? or maybe just swore an oath to only eat really bad people?

Maybe we’ve had it wrong all these years. Maybe just because illithids can eat humanoid brains doesn’t mean they have to.
