For eons, the Abyssal Lords Orcus and Demogorgon were rivals, even enemies. They both sought power in the Abyss, and they both used the worship of mortals to further their goals. Both Demogorgon and Orcus desired the death of the other, but their power levels were so evenly matched that it was impossible for either to prevail in a direct confrontation. And so they schemed against each other, but did little else.
