In the Dark Place

You and those around you have gone someplace dangerous, someplace terrifying. You shouldn’t have come here. Maybe you didn’t mean to. Maybe you did. It doesn’t matter. You’re trapped in a waking nightmare where it seems everything is out to kill you, and if you don’t get out soon, it will surely succeed.

You will play a character trapped in a dangerous, haunted place.

Do not concern yourself with rules or statistics. They exist only to guide the narrator in describing how this strange world works and how your efforts will fare against it. Trust that if the world seems unfairly against you, it is the world being so. Despite how it may seem, your narrator is impartial.
