Basically, in 'In the Heart of the Earth' there are two 'game engines' in the form of Hex Flowers. One engine drives locations in the cavern comples and the other determines what is in them, e.g. encounters.
Each time you move to a new location, you procedurally determine what is there.
'In the Heart of the Earth' is based on 'In the Heart of the Delve and Dangerous', which is a procedural dungeon crawl. I've also made ‘In the Heart of the Sea’, a procedural High Seas ‘Hex Crawl’ and ‘In the Heart of the Unknown' a procedural wilderness Hex Crawling Engine.
In addition, included there is a template with blank encounters (to make your own adventures)
