Investment tycoons is a simple financially educative game that resembles real life events and realistic market fluctuations.
In this game, players assume the role of investors who are buying and selling stocks of Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), which, in return, invest the collected money into 15 different sectors/industries. For example, one Exchange-Traded Fund can invest in: Energy, Manufacturing, and Retail industries, while another ETF can invest in: Financial services, Media/Gaming, and Retail.
Each turn one card will be drawn for all players. Event card will resemble some famous real-life event (for example: Covid 19 pandemic, Suez canal obstruction or GameStop short squeeze). On the flip side of the card, event effects are listed. The event effects may increase or decrease values of entire industries in the range of -3 to +3. Before the event effects are revealed, players will have a chance to buy and sell stocks of available ETFs. The starting value of all ETF stocks is 10.
After all players have done all their desired transactions, the event effect is revealed. Upon reveal, adjust the values of all ETF stocks. Some may increase and some may decrease their value. After that, a new event card is revealed. The game is played in this fashion for 5 turns. At the end of the game, after 5 events have been played, the player that has the most value in his stocks and money (combined) wins the game.
