As reported by Rudolph Van Richten in his Guide to Ravenloft, Azalin Rex was finally able (?) to depart from the Demiplane of Dread via an incredibly complex ritual known as the Hour of Ascension. What Dr. Van Richten did not write in his Guide is the fact that one of the steps of the infamous lich’s magical process was the utter corruption of one of the glamorous Domains of Delight! Assisted by powerful vicious devils, Azalin planted the seeds of evil in the fey domain of Elfland, manipulating the envy of Ziroonderel the warlock into a killing spree! The palace that is only told of in song lies now in ruin, and the only way for restoring Elfland to his former glory is recovering the Elfin Rune from the lair of the witch…
