Adventure Background
Gableheart Wharf is a typical rocky, cold, and stinky fishing town. Its small shoreline remains the only safe dock among miles of rocky shoreline. Unable to dock anywhere else, the town and its lighthouse provide safe harbor to the fisherman here who have built a thriving trade community.
That was until a few weeks ago. A gigantic strange eel like creature washed ashore. Seemingly beaten against the rocky shore only its massive head and part of its body were visible above the shoreline. The majority of its mass disappeared into the sea. The locals were puzzled to its origins, and rather than risk the potential danger of it rotting and disrupting their fishing decided to carry fuel down to the shore and begin to cut it to pieces and burn it. However upon opening a hole in the side of the creature a stream of strange tick like creatures spewed from it and began to bite and attack everyone. Those that died immediately rose as strangely mutated zombies and began to attack and eat the others.
Over the last few weeks the people of Gableheart Wharf have all died, and the traders who come here also become caught in the chaos. The party that arrives in the evening only to step into this horror themselves.
