J. R. R. Tolkien's Riders of Rohan covers the war between the Rohirrim and the forces of Saruman, from Tolkien's book, The Two Towers. The player controls the forces of Rohan, moving the armies of the Rohirrim on an overworld map. When Rohan's forces encounter the armies of Saruman, combat between the two is played out tactically. Conflict can also include the player controlling Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, or Gandalf as they duel or fire a bow against orcs, or duel against Nazgul. The game features events from the books, including the arrival of the Ents into the conflict, which can widly affect the outcome of the game.
