Description

From publisher blurb:

Kalabane’s Blood Temple is a one-shot, horror-themed dungeon adventure designed for D&D 5e. It is scalable for characters level 1 to 5 and features a terrifying and grizzly adventure, with a dramatic ending, for adults only! Beware: this is a scary adventure and we do not advise running it for children. Even so, we have also included warning signposts for those who may want to tone down the contents.

Once A Year

Every year, Kalabane’s Blood Temple appears on All Hallows’ Eve in Disdain Swamp. As darkness descends, the structure rises from the swamp and stays until the stroke of midnight. It then vanishes and those left in the building aren’t seen again until the following year, when they are sometimes observed wandering the swamp as the undead. Ordinarily, Market Road runs alongside this much feared area of land, completely avoiding the swamp; however, on this one night, dark magic alters the landscape and steers the road towards the temple, drawing in all unsuspecting travellers.

The setting of this adventure is optional. We have provided it in the context of our own world, Rellecta, which is used in our Infested Building Series. Of course, the road the players travel along could be anywhere in the DM’s own world and you can easily slot it into your own campaign. It is designed as a one shot for Halloween and does not have to have any lasting context.

Levels of Difficulty

Options are provided throughout the adventure that will enable the DM to make encounters more difficult, through the addition of numbers, characters and narrative elements. This is an adventure that can be played by level 1 characters but, as with most adventures, the DM may wish to increase or decrease the number of enemies in an encounter to make it appropriately challenging.
