Characters in the game belong to a Role (The Lord, The Lady, The Knight, or The Fool) which determines bonuses to Skills (Knowledge, Diplomacy, Martial, Intrigue, etc.). Each character is assigned a House (Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, or Spades). The game is played with playing cards which are drawn and held in hands. Aces and Jokers have special actions.
The game is distributed as a four-page document; the third page is a character record sheet and the fourth page is blank.
