Det är nådens år 1700. Det spanska imperiet håller på att falla sönder efter Carlos II:s död och ett världsomfattande krig står för dörren. Europas furstar är som gamar runt en döende buffel, redo att roffa åt sig vad de kan. Härar samlas och Europas spioner har mer än någonsin att göra.
Paris invånare märker dock inte mycket av detta. I denna kontrasternas stad blir rollpersonerna inhyrda för ett till synes oskyldigt uppdrag. De kastas snart handlöst in i en urgammal konflikt – en konflikt som kan få än mer förödande konsekvenser för Frankrike och Europa än till och med det stundande kriget.
Rough translation:
It is the year of our Lord 1700. The Spanish empire is falling apart after the death of Carlos II, and a war of global proportion is on the verge of breaking out. The lords of Europe are like vultures around a dying buffalo, ready to grab what they can. Armies are gathering and spies have more work to carry out than ever before.
The people of Paris doesn't see much of this. In this city of contrasts the characters are hired for a routine job. This soon draw them in to an age old conflict - a conflict with even more dire consequences for France and Europe than even the coming war.
