The main component of the Larklamp is a lantern assembled from laser-cut wood, into which card panels are placed. Light from the lantern shines through holes in the card panels to create a game play area of light and shadow (the board, as such) on the table surface.
The game system was published in 2017. Two games were available at the time of its release (Snixtrap and Wisp in the Vale), but the publisher's web site indicates they plan to develop one new game for the Larklamp system annually.
