Last Ninja 4 – The Return is an action adventure game.
Initially planned for a 1996 release, the game started as a partnership with Philips Interactive. But Philips Interactive exited the industry, and the game was abandoned in 1998.
System 3 then continued development and entered a joint venture partnership with EA in 2000. It became the only game in EA’s history to be denied concept approval by Sony.
The project was in 2002 revived by book publisher Simon & Schuster who provided funding. But after Simon & Schuster exited the games industry in 2003, the game was abandoned once more.
Last Ninja 4: The Return went back into development in 2017, and made large progress until 2018 when being abandoned for a fourth time.
The game will be release in 2025 in a Work-In-Progress version.
