Le Banquet pour Louis is a simple, fast and highly competitive game in which the players are chefs who try to satisfy every request of King Louis XV. before the big banquet.
In a series of separate rounds, the dishes you cook will be worth a different number of points, and it's up to you to maximize them towards victory. However, you must regularly watch out for other chefs at the table, because each dish activates special, sometimes insidious, mini-actions. This way you can run out of cooked dishes or someone can steal a dish that is just being prepared, but there are also ways of 'defense', for example if you cook a fish dish that gives you a short immunity to the wickedness of other teammates.
In the game, everyone is sweating about the random arrival of the king on a tour of the kitchens. As soon as he knocks on the door (jumps out of the deck of cards with dishes), the game stops, and the king goes from one table to another and tastes the finest dish - i.e. the dish that is worth the most points that particular round. The only way to save your most valuable dish is to distract the king with the king's cat, a card that rarely appears in the deck, and which is equally valued by chefs and the king.
Le Banquet pour Louis is primarily intended for families, has simple rules and is very intuitive. Replayability is guaranteed with a number of different cards with scoring dishes, and the always random appearance of Louis on a tour.
