From Introduction:

Letheans wrap themselves in cloaks of memory, excising themselves from the minds of those they encounter. Some follow this path for personal gain. Others follow it in service to higher powers or ideals. And some are forced onto the path, their very survival dependent on being forgettable. Skilled letheans are able to act without regard to the consequences that bind others, shielded from retribution or accountability. Though the benefits within reach of letheans are great, the price is higher than most can bear.
