Description

From the introduction:

Some few miles off the coast a solitary monolith rises high out of the dark water. This mass of rock, crested with a sheet of green, is the Isle of Scarabeck. Approaching the island from the south you will be confronted with a mass of rocks, caves and low cli?s book ended by two small shingle beaches and each of these beaches has a small jetty to aid in the landing of boats. The west jetty is less commonly used and was originally built during the 18th century for the construction of the small chapel that was built on the island by the Rev' Strathmoor who lived in the chapel until a ?re mostly destroyed it. The eastern jetty is more modern and is preferred for landing on the island now due to the rocks under the waves close to the west. The island rises to the north cling face and looking north from the island there is nothing to see except the open sea stretching to the horizon. It is what lies unseen, beneath the waves, that you should be most aware of though as sitting just below the surface of the waves a reef of hard rocks stretches out from the island for a length of 2 cables. These rocks have been the final resting place of many seafaring adventurers and are the main reason for the existence of the lighthouse that stands on the island.
