A. If the party has played the previous adventure: The adventure begins with the city of Raam recovering from a Tyr-storm which struck the city the night before. No deaths occurred in Xersus' community, now called the Haven, but many of the buildings sustained damage. The characters spent the next day helping to clean up the damage and make repairs. The evening after the storm, Xersus tells the party that much of the Haven's food storage have been spoiled. He asks the party to make a trip to the markets outside the city. The community makes a collection of cp and the party is set to leave early the next day. If the DM wishes to roll play the party's journey to the market, see Appendix A for possible encounters while traveling in the city of Raam.
It is the afternoon when the characters return from the markets with the much needed food for the Haven. Nidia, a middle aged women, approaches the party at a run. The characters know that Nidia is a local woman who looks after the water priest Lyshin. She asks the party if they know where Xersus is. (Note: The party has not seen him since the previous afternoon. They have been gone since early this morning.) Nidia tells the party that Lyshin has been demanding Xersus' presence, but no one has been able to find him. Nafisa, Xersus's lover, has not seen Xersus since yesterday. She said that he never came home last night. She is very concerned and is trying to organize search parties. The characters can ask around but no one in the community has seen Xersus since the previous afternoon. Lyshin is furious, and demands the party find Xersus and "drag his insulin hide before me."
The party as learned over the past few days that Xersus has some sort of arrangement with the elves of the Night Runners tribe to exchange information. The party may decide to make contact with Ralmeed of the Night Runners.
