Description

Looking for a magic bullet? Well look no further!

Magical Munitions is the latest in my series of guides to historical, modern, and future tech in D&D 5e. Smoke & Thunder brought guns to D&D in a way that was robust but balanced and flexible. Smoke & Thunder 2 extended that treatment to explosives and artillery...

Now, you can have the full D&D experience with those weapons by making them magical!

Magical Munitions presents over one hundred magic items following those themes. Just over half of them are related to firearms, with the remainder being explosive or artillery related. Of those, thirteen are reprinted from the latest update to Firearms For Fifth Edition, while another fifteen appear in Smoke &Thunder 2: Explosives and Artillery. That leaves another seventy-five entirely new items that only appear in this volume.

A few items—like the headband of might and the hammer of atom smashing—fit the themes through flavor alone without requiring any reference to the prior volumes. Most, however, require firearm, artillery, or explosive stats as their base, just as a magic sword requires sword stats. If you have a source for firearms other than Smoke & Thunder that you prefer to use, it’s likely that they’ll work, though a few items rely on the specific mechanics and implementations in my base guides.
